Support Professional in FRIENDS of Broomfields Social Programs.
General Description The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides
meaningful and individually tailored services to meet the goals,
desires and needs of adults with intellectual and developmental
disabilities (IDD). The DSP works as part of a team to plan and
schedule educational and community inclusion activities. The DSP is
responsible for providing appropriate supervision, mentoring and
teaching opportunities so that adults may gain greater independence
and build meaningful relationships with community members. The DSP
enables adults in the program to recognize and develop their
strengths and abilities so they can be empowered to make choices
and lead fulfilling lives. The DSP promotes person-centered
concepts, provides opportunities for learning skills along with
integration of individuals into the community and being involved in
activities that increase independence. The DSP actively supports
adults with IDD to choose and achieve the highest quality of life.
FRIENDS person-centered approach ensures that people are receiving
the services they need in order to gain independence and truly be
part of their community. The DSP promotes the organizations
mission, vision and core values. Duties/Responsibilities Provide
direct support and supervision during Social Program events. Ensure
health, safety and welfare of people according to procedures,
individualized plans and protocols. Provide guidance, motivation
and support to reach the individuals goals and maintain a persons
health and safety. Help develop relationships with members of the
community through a variety of activities. Follow all service
plans, Individual Service and Support Plans, the recommendations of
team members and the needs and desires of the individual. Effective
communications with individual and their interdisciplinary team.
Provide transportation using FRIENDS of Broomfield fleet of
vehicles and personal car. Work productively and cooperatively as a
member of a team. Complete daily documentation and progress notes.
Implement behavior plans as necessary. Report any unusual
behaviors, incidents, or concerns to supervisory/case management
staff. Complete any necessary documentation. Manage crises
according to established policy, procedures, and guidelines.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. At least
1 year experience working with adults with IDD. Possession of a
valid drivers license and ability to meet FRIENDS driving
requirements. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both
verbally and in writing. Physical requirements include the ability
to exert up to 50 pounds of force; physical condition to enable
walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or
crawling; stamina to be on feet and active for full work days;
ability to speak or exchange information in an audible manner.
Hours:2 Weekday evenings a month, One weekend day a month. Hours
will Vary Classification:Part -Time/ Non-Exempt Benefits: paid sick
days, paid holidays, 401(k) match, paid training, and an Employee
Assistance Program.
