Title: Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Peterson AFB - Colorado Springs, CO
This position provides cybersecurity support to the Military
Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Systems Directorate (SMC/MC)
which plans for, acquires and sustains space-enabled global
communications in support of the President, Secretary of Defense
and combat forces. MILSATCOM is comprised of an integrated system
of satellites, terminals and control stations of various
acquisition categories, in different phases of their life cycles,
providing communications to aircraft, ships, mobile and fixed
sites. Location is Peterson AFB, CO.
Job Responsibilities:Specific Responsibilities include but are not
Establish mission systems security assessment and authorization
(A&A) for SMC/MC mission systems in accordance with the DoD
Cybersecurity A&A Program for SMC/MC's operational baseline
components and terminals at the Centralized Integrated Support
Facility (CISF) which includes its test facility.
Maintain and distribute A&A schedules in accordance with the
program office Cybersecurity Plan, and the Cybersecurity Integrated
Product Team Schedule, In accordance with DoDI 8510.01, "Risk
Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology
Prepare a weekly report describing the status of each A&A
package in process. Items to be addressed shall include delivery
documentation and artifacts, status of missing items, completed
and/or pending reviews, and status of remaining actions.
Provide direct support to the Information Systems Security Manager
Register systems in the Air Force's Information Technology
Investment Portfolio Suite (ITIPS) in compliance with the Federal
Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and the Enterprise
Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) database.
Conduct annual FISMA validation of Cybersecurity control compliance
which will include at least 30% of the identified security
controls, in accordance with DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, CNSSI
1253, and the Cybersecurity Strategy, and Plan of Action and
Milestone (POA&M). Findings shall be submitted in a written
Provide liaison between operational unit, Systems Program Office
(SPO), support agencies, and the Information Systems Security
Manager (ISSM) for strategic and tactical communications satellite
programs' cybersecurity requirements.
Review SMC/MC space mission systems certification policies,
programs, procedures and reports for initial and follow-on system
releases, including new and evolving Cybersecurity system
requirements, in accordance with the SMC/MC Cybersecurity Charter,
DoDI 8510.01, and SMC/MC Cybersecurity directives. Findings shall
be documented in a report with suggested changes/revisions to RMF
Maintain operational systems security baseline tracking and update
when changes have been approved in accordance with RMF, DoDI
8510.01, and Change Board Instructions.
Prepare a letter of assurance once changes have been approved and
ready for release to the authorization authority.
Initiate and maintain RMF documentation.
Review security control implementation within the Test and
Evaluation Management Plan (TEMP) and inputs for OT&E Plan in
accordance with DoDI 8500.01 and DoDI 8510.01.
Review program Cybersecurity Plans and Policies.
Coordinate and document annual self-assessments, Annual Control
Validation and independent Certification Test and Evaluation
Apply knowledge of Defensive Cybersecurity Operations (DCO) by
attending meetings, representing SMC/MC, understanding how DCO
initiatives affect SMC/MC systems, coordinating with organizations,
overseeing implementations, and reporting progress.
Handle a variety of cybersecurity related special projects and
Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a technical field; or
equivalent years of experience
Security certification compliant with DoD 8570.01-M
Cybersecurity professional experience
Detail oriented and possess good organizational skills
Strong initiative, problem solver, and willingness to handle tough
Experience working with RMF and A&A
Eligible for Top Secret clearance with SCI
Preferred Qualifications:Seven or more years of cybersecurity
CISSP or CAP certification
Prior experience supporting SMC, a DoD sustainment organization, or
Prior experience as one or more of the following: ISSO, ISSM, ISSE,
network operations, Common Control Provider, or Security Control
Experience working with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support
Knowledge of Defensive Cybersecurity Operations (DCO)
Current Top Secret clearance with SCI
Working Location and Additional Information:
The position is located at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado
Travel less than 10%.
