opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems - Systems Engineer
Architect (24-495) to join our team of qualified, diverse
individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO, or
Huntsville, AL. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle
Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the
Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that
enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant
commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to
systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see
the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage
designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global
and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile
defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of
all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier
that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing
autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize
performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight
tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile
defense system capabilities. In this role, the successful candidate
will be responsible for providing technical leadership for the
system's development, including identifying technical issues and
coordinating across the C2BMC enterprise to resolve these issues,
coordinating with associate contractors developing the sim/stim
equipment, reporting status at meetings, and working closely with
the test and integration team to provide oversight and direction. -
Understanding of DoD and missile defense command and control,
battle management (C2BMC) architectures and system concepts,
mission, and common system test and data analysis techniques.
-Ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with defining the
operational, physical, functional, and technical architecture
necessary to describe the vision and desired capabilities of an
evolving C2BMC effort. Essential Functions:
- Analyzing high-level needs and refining the need into an
integrated set of hardware and software through a structured and
logical approach
- Identifying & defining desired system capabilities
- Communicating the desired capabilities to a diverse group of
developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
- Generating architecture artifacts to document and control the
achievement of the desired capabilities
- Designing and developing new systems and integrating existing
systems
- Communicate and interact with the customer and related system
programs, including presenting technical approaches and findings in
written and verbal form
- Ensures conversion of mission requirements into total systems
solutions that account for the system's design and technology
maturity constraints
- Develop systems and system element architecture, design, and
interface definition
- Support internal and external design reviews
- Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and
design and analysis methodologies
- Must have the ability to exploit that architecture background
to assist in defining system capabilities and developing
architecture artifacts
- Ability to analyze high-level needs and, through a structured
and logical approach, refine the need into an integrated set of
hardware and software
- Ability to lead portions of the activity
- Develop models and architectural guidelines for current and
future system development
- Able to effectively and clearly present technical approaches
and findings. -Communicating and interacting with the customer and
related system programs is essentialSalary range for Colorado
Springs: $124,900 - $187,300 Salary range for Huntsville: $131,100
- $196,700 Basic Qualifications: Please note your updated security
clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if
applicable.
- An active Secret clearance is required to start
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM Engineering discipline or related
field with 8 years experience. Or a Master's degree in a STEM
Engineering discipline with 6 years of experience
- Generating architecture artifacts to document and control the
achievement of the desired capabilities
- Experience developing system engineering artifacts:
- Specifications
- Interface Control Documents
- Use Cases
- System Architecture Descriptions
- Trade Studies
- Experience working in an integrated team environment with other
systems, software, and specialty engineers is required to develop
solutions
- Engineering leadership, identifying and defining desired
capabilities and fielding new capabilities.
- System-of-system definition, integration practices, and
methods
- Experience with applying and using systems engineering tools
for requirements management and Object-oriented requirements
definition (e.g., DOORS)
- Experience with CAMEO
- Experience using C2BMC processes and methods
- Experience with Distributed Training System (DTS)Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience with training system development is desirable
- Familiarity with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and
Missile Defense (IAMD) systems is desirable
- Familiarity with training and exercise methods and systems,
particularly missile defense training systems, is valuable
- Experience is desirable with training system solution

Additional Northrop Grumman Information: Salary Range: $124,300 -
$196,700The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when
determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the
position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift
differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as
well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in
Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability
insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off
