Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career
opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer (JEMINI) to join
our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be
located in Colorado Springs, CO and Schriever Space Force Base, CO.
Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and
Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense
System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S.
president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at
strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan
ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop
collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked
sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission
objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability
that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all
phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and
regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and
weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is
integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and
exercise all current and future missile defense system
capabilities. This position is for a mid-level Software Engineer on
the C2BMC JEMINI program. The candidate will primarily be
responsible for software development using Java. Essential
Functions:
- Expertise: Applies extensive expertise to solve complex
problems requiring ingenuity and creativity
- Work Direction: Work is performed without appreciable direction
and is reviewed for desired results over a long-term
perspective
- Impact of Decisions: Erroneous decisions would normally result
in failure to achieve major organizational objectives
- Leadership Role: May function in project leadership roles and
represent the organization as the primary customer contact on
significant technical matters on contracts
- Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, team
environment
- Knowledge of software practices and coding standards
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review
performance issues, identify root causes, recommend, and develop
solutions
- Key Responsibilities: Interact with others using good verbal
and written communication skills
- Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing
environment
- Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large,
distributed system written in Java
- Perform complex problem resolution, design, development,
testing, integration, and user support for a large code
baseline
- Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within
the code
- Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and
documentation
- Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems,
set standards, and improve overall system efficiency
- Design, code, test, and implement tools for automationBasic
Qualifications: Please note your updated security clearance and
IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Computer Science, Technology,
Engineering, Software Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
preferred from an accredited university and -8 years of related
experience or a Master's STEM degree in a related discipline and 6
years of experience, or a PhD and 4 years of experience, or 12
years of related experience instead of a degree may be
considered
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued
Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is
required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
security clearance
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business
needs
- Java experience
- Experience working as part of an Agile team
- Familiarity with Java Spring
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as
Docker/Kubernetes
- Knowledge of server-side development and message passing
- Experience developing enterprise applications
- Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks
- Use of common software development and management tools such
as:
- Git
- Nexus
- JIRA
- Confluence
- Maven or Gradle
- Eclipse
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts
such as:
- Use Cases
- UML diagrams
- Command and control system application development
- Experience with message translation software
- Automated test and pipeline development experience
- Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows
platforms
- Experience with Software Integration testing, including
developing automated test scripts
- Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify
mitigation
- Prior experience designing and developing microservices and
deploying with containers; experience setting up a container
environmentPreferred Qualifications:
- Current and active in-scope DoD-issued TS/SCI clearance is
highly desired
- DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+,
GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is highly desiredWhat We

C2BMCSalary Range: $124,900 - $187,300The above salary range
represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers
a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the
scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's
experience, education, skills and current market
conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for
overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition
to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage,
