Job Description:
The Country Club of Colorado is looking for a First Assistant.
This position is critical to ensuring day-to-day golf operations
runs smooth and provide exceptional service to members and
guests.
General Purpose:
The Assistant Golf Professional position will report to the Head
Golf Professional and indirectly to the Club Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, serving the
members and guests of the Club and the Resort in a courteous and
professional manner, prioritizing assignments, handling multiple
tasks, and working independently or as part of a team. The use of
interpersonal skills - including a positive attitude, the ability
to solve conflict, and giving constructive feedback - as well as
having good verbal and written communication skills will also be
necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Responsibilities: Front of the House Operations (40%):
-Providing excellent customer service to members and guests of the
Club and the Resort will be the most important aspect of the job.
It will be important to develop good working relationships with the
membership to be able to meet their needs efficiently and
effectively.
-Tee sheet management: seven-to-ten-day outlook; regular tee times;
times booked in advance for ALL league and tournament play; and
open, close, and starter times.
-Assist in all aspects of managing the golf operations staff.
-Point of Sale system management including assisting in required
daily and monthly reporting (e.g., POS reconciliation and monthly
inventory).
Back of the House Operations (50%):
-League and tournament operations, including but not limited to
Corporate Event execution and member and resort event management,
(e.g., the scheduling, scoring, billing and payouts as defined by
each group's bylaws or written contracts).
-Product knowledge and the ability to share information to increase
golf staff knowledge of the products we offer for better customer
service.
-Research and provide recommendations for equipment and soft goods
based on trends.
-Attend meetings and product knowledge demos as part of the buying
team.
-Vendor Demo Day scheduling and execution
-Re-gripping as well as other minor club work including
modification if the equipment necessary is available.
Other Duties and Responsibilities (10%):
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
-Ensure safe working practices of self and others.
-Desire to learn and dedication to customer service.
-Fitting golf equipment and teaching the game to all ages and
abilities.
-Attend trainings and meetings and may be assigned to resort
committees or work groups.
-Golf Shop Merchandising, Inventory control, and budget allocation
including pre-book meetings with vendors.
-Pro shop appearance: merchandising, cleanliness, and
organization.
Education and/or Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Minimum two years of vocational or industry training in a
specifically golf or high-volume retail related program or
organization.
-Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, tournament,
tee sheet, POS, and event software
-Cash handling and counting change.
-A combination of experience and education may be considered.
Preferred Consideration will be given for the following:
-A PGA member in good standing, or eligible Associate PGA
Professional, capable of attaining a Class A membership in the PGA
of America within the timeline provided by the program is strongly
preferred.
-Eligible Associate PGA Professional, or Level 3 PGM Student.
-Bachelor's degree in a related field would be preferred.
-Minimum two-years' experience in a golf operation with supervisory
duty.
-Teaching experience in the game of golf
-Three years in a high-volume retail sales environment, preferably
golf, with progressive responsibility during that time.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
-Valid Driver's License
-A PGA or LPGA member in good standing
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Knowledge and experience with of all aspects of a golf course
operation
-Ability to handle cash flow with accuracy in adherence with
established procedures.
-Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and general
equipment
-Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent
interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
-Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and
high-volume environment with an emphasis on accuracy and
timeliness.
-Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with
co-workers, patrons, and supervisors as well as interact with
employees and vendors in a professional and friendly manner.
-Ability to assist with and communicate concerns regarding
programs, facility, and staff.
Working Environment:
Work is performed primarily indoors but can be outdoors and
requires the ability to drive. Frequent interruptions, by both
customers and other employees, are a part of daily duties. Work
environment is high paced. Position requires employee to work on
weekends, holidays, and evenings. Occasionally lifts more than 50
lbs. May work alone or as part of a crew.
Recreation Industry Proviso:
Our shifts and needs vary every day and the golf course is open
seven days a week the majority of the year. Weekend and holiday
work is a given as it is some of our busiest periods and the
staffing is maximized to handle volume.
Salary Range $50,000 - $57,000 based on work experience. Additional
compensation is available through lessons, clinic, as well as
tournament and service fee commissions.
