(MDA) Program seeks seeking an experienced engineer to join our
technical team. As an experienced networking communications
engineer, you will apply engineering principles and expertise to
bring technical solutions to bear on the governments toughest
challenges in Command & Control, Communications, and Cyber (C4)
domains. The MITRE MDA Sensors & C4ISR Department (N262) provides
technical leadership to MDA Program across the Battle Management,
Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3), Ground Sensors, and
Space domains.Job Responsibilities:The MDA Command & Control,
Communications, & Cyber (C4) Knowledge Center (C4KC) has an open
position for a Technical Director. This position will coordinate
among the C4KC principals and with principals from the other
Knowledge Centers to ensure efficient and effective C4KC
operations.This role supports the C4KC Director in fulfilling the
following C4KC mission objectives: Maintain awareness of important
aspects of the critical C4 technical domains within and outside the
Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Establish a network of national-level
FFRDC/UARC domain C4 experts accessible to MDA Advise the Director
of MDA Engineering of significant technical risks (and proposed
mitigations) in MDS program execution for the C4 domains Assist the
MDS Elements with identifying and resolving issues associated with
critical technologies or concepts within the C4 domain Perform
quick reaction problem-solving and independent reviews in the C4
technical domains in response to MDA Program Office and MDA/DE
needs Foster the development of the MDA workforce in the C4
technical domains Share lessons learned and best practices in the
C4 technical domainsOver the next several years, the C4KC will be
asked to assist with independent (objective) analyses and studies
in support of future MDS development that address the following
challenges:Layered Homeland DefenseGlide Phase InterceptCruise
Missile Defense HomelandDefense of GuamSpace Domain AwarenessJoint
All-Domain C2 IntegrationDevelopment of the BMDS Overhead
Architecture (BOA)Defensive Cyberspace Operations for the
MDSCyberspace Survivability and ResiliencyHelping to advance modern
processes for software delivery to deliver new capabilities more
quicklyAs a result, specific critical technical domain areas
relevant to the C4 domain for this position include, but are not
limited to, the following: RF Satellite CommunicationsLaser/Optical
CommunicationsTactical Data Link NetworksAdvanced Network
EngineeringDevSecOps / Software Factory implementationsEnterprise
Cloud ComputingSystems EngineeringUnderstanding of Integrated Air
and Missile DefenseSpace based systems, architecture, and
associated communications/networkingUnderstanding of DoD
acquisition processNote: This position may be filled by any of the
FFRDC/UARCs that support MDA through a nomination process that
requires Government acceptance of the nominee. This requisition is
seeking a well-qualified MITRE candidate which will be nominated to
fill the role; a final offer cannot be made unless the Government
accepts MITREs nomination.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires a
minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelors degree;
or 6 years and a Masters degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience;
or equivalent combination of related education and work
experience.Applicants selected for this position will be subject to
a government security investigation and must meet eligibility
requirements for access to classified information or applicants who
are eligible for security clearances.Required Qualifications:
Strong technical credentials (deep technical expertise in two or
more of the C4 technical domain areas listed above) and associated
advanced degree(s) 10-15 years experience working in the C4
technical domain Experience working on Missile Defense System (MDS)
Element programs or similar DoD/weapon systems programs Track
record of accomplishments and successful impact advising DoD
customers and stakeholders Excellent collaboration and people
skills Ability to work independently on specific tasking to create
timely outputs, often in an interrupt-driven and late-to-need
working environment Proven track record of effective working
relationships across and within Government organizations and with
other Federally Funded Research and Development Center/University
Affiliated Research Center (FFRDC/UARC), academic and contractor
communities Ability to provide independent, conflict-free, and
unbiased assessments and advice Organizational savvy to achieve
outcomes and deal with the complexity of MDA culture and
organization and external relationships Excellent ability to convey
technical details at the appropriate level from technical SMEs to
senior executives Current TS Clearance level, ability to obtain SCI
clearance Preferred Qualifications:Strong, demonstrated technical
credentials in 3 or more domain areas listed above and advanced
degreesExperience working MDS Element programs 20 years experience
working in the C4 technical domainCurrent TS/SCI ClearanceThis
requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the
following clearance(s):This requisition requires the hired
candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire,
the following clearance(s):Salary compensation range and
midpoint:$132,500 - $165,500 - $199,000 AnnualSubject to all
