The N162 Advanced Capabilities Department is seeking an intern to assist in the development of groundbreaking capabilities for the nation while learning advanced skills. The candidate will be joining a team of self-motivated, mission-focused engineers solving some of the nation's most challenging technology problems. A strong engineering foundation coupled with a desire to innovate and continuously learn are a must. You'll work alongside MITRE engineers to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the greatest cyberspace challenges of our sponsors. You will be exposed to those with world-class expertise, innovation, and thought leadership to protect our government sponsors and promote their mission and operational success.From design to operations, you will learn to apply security engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor's cyber challenges in three key strategic areas:

  • threat-based engineering,
  • design recovery and reverse engineering,
  • privacy, resilience, cyber strategy, planning and design in the development of novel cyber capabilities.
    • Pursuing a Bachelors in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science or related discipline.
    • Basic knowledge of cyber security principles, tools and devices, such as WireShark, ELK, and Splunk
    • Experience working with design recovery, software analysis, and/or reverse engineering tools
    • Proficiency in one or more of the following--Java, Python, XML, HTML, C#, Objective C; Database design & development including SQL
    • Have cyber related experience gained from academic study and related intern/coop work
    • Sustained excellence in academic performance
    • High level desire to help their nation solve its most critical problems
    • Exhibits the characteristics of a continuous learner
    • Many of our jobs welcome those students who have an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving. Must be willing and able to work part-time during the school year, with a transition to full-time work during the summer.
      • During school year: Able to work a minimum of five hours per week, with opportunity to expand up to a maximum 20 hours per week depending on the candidate's availability. Hours worked must be during traditional hours (weekdays during regular business hours).
      • Summer: 40 hours per week, traditional hours (weekdays during regular business hours). This position requires the intern to be present at the facility and able to interact with the team. Hybrid or remote work is not available.
