Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

What you'll get to do:

  • Perform customer requirements elicitation leading to requirements development
  • Coordination & collaboration with the System Engineering and Command & Launch Segment System Engineering Teams
  • Support system, segment, element and unit level trade studies
  • Definition of high-level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation
  • Support a team of engineers to create, mature and present comprehensive and cohesive technical charts representative of the appropriate level of maturation for any given milestone meeting and demonstrating team readiness in relation to achieving the milestone entrance and exit criteria
  • Identifying required contractual deliverables and non-contractual documentation and driving corresponding updates to closure

    • Employee Discounts This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

      You'll bring these qualifications:
      • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with with 5 years of experience; 3 years of experience with Masters; 0 Years of experience with a PhD
      • Understanding of systems engineering principles and processes
      • Demonstrated communication skills and flexibility
      • Proficiency in MS Office
      • Current active Secret clearance awarded in the past 5.5 years
      • Ability to obtain and hold a Top Secret, SCI, or Special Access clearance These qualifications would be nice to have:
        • A current DoD Top Secret clearance with capability for SAP access
        • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers
        • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
        • Familiarity with Model- Driven Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts; CORE knowledge is a plus
        • Experience using DOORS, Cameo EA, Microsoft Office, and MATLAB
        • Excellent technical writing and team building skills
        • Subcontractor technical oversight experience

          Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

          Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
