Job Title: MRI TechnologistReports to: Lead Technologist and Director of Clinical ServicesSupervises: N/AFLSA status: Non-ExemptSummary DescriptionThis position is responsible for applying their expertise in the area of obtaining diagnostic images while providing exemplary quality service to patients.This position is Friday through Monday and includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants.   • Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday - 7:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Monday - 8 or 10-hour variable shift (day or evening shift based on need)Essential Functions
    • Prepares patients for exams by greeting the patient by his/her entire name, obtaining patient history information necessary to perform or evaluate the procedure, and providing instructions and explanation of the procedure to obtain the best possible image and reduce the patient's anxiety.
    • Accurately and thoroughly screens all patients prior to entry into the MRI room.
    • Prepares area for exam by ensuring the proper equipment and supplies are available before the patient is called for exam.
    • Uses multiple MR equipment and software to acquire high quality images to submit to the radiologist for interpretation.
    • Performs injections of contrast with a power injector or using hand technique, ensuring proper injection rates are used for optimal contrast enhancement. Documents amount of contrast injected.
    • Attends to patient's care before, during and immediately following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient's condition changes at any time.
    • Performs daily inspections of equipment and reports immediately any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies.
    • Sends all studies to PACS (image software) and other network nodes as needed, including any applicable prior studies.
    • Manages short and long-term archival of MRI studies and produces electronic/hard copy images of studies as requested.
    • Performs clerical duties related to the procedures including entering information into company-specific software and documenting information into patient charts.
    • Cleans exam rooms and restocks supplies for next patient.
    • Performs on-call duties at hospital MRI locations with a 30 minute on-site response time at each hospital.
    • Interfaces with Lead regarding any and all departmental concerns.
    • Attends regular staff meetings and complies with all company policies and procedures.This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned by administration.Employment StandardsKnowledge:Business-specific knowledge: Knowledge of: Colorado Springs Radiologists, P.C. policies and procedures, business-specific software, safety regulations.Industry-specific knowledge: Knowledge of: laws and regulations pertaining to medical records and patient confidentiality, ethics and standards of appropriate professional organization(s), ICD-10 and CPT coding, radiation safety, aseptic techniques, IV skills.Mastery:Specialized equipment: Imaging equipment, computer, crash cart, oxygen tanks, IV pumps, MRI compatible devices and power injector.Abilities:Ability to: work independently with minimal supervision; organize and prioritize work and complete within established, reasonable time frames; follow verbal and written instructions; establish and maintain professional working relationships with staff, physicians, management, patients and external contacts; pursue educational and training opportunities to continually add to personal and professional growth in knowledge, skills and abilities pertaining to this position; maintain strict confidentiality of patient, business and employee information at all times; exercise professional judgment and perform all duties in compliance with medical ethics and OSHA standards.Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification: Graduation from an ARRT accredited Radiologic Technology Program or from an ARMRIT Program is required. ARRT MR certification or ARMRIT certification is required no longer than 8 months after hire. BLS certification is required. Six months experience in MRI is preferred.Desirable or Special Qualifications: 1 to 5 years of vendor-specific MR experience preferred.Physical and Mental Requirements:Position: MRI TechnologistNOTE: These are physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed.
