The part-time (40%) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
will work in the UCCS Wellness Center treating patients from a
variety of age groups with a variety of mental health needs. This
position will conduct psychiatric evaluations and psychiatric
follow-up appointments, and provide consultation to a
multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners,
psychologists, counselors, social workers and interns from these

of the UCCS Wellness Center as directed by nurse practitioner scope
of practice and clinic protocols.
- Participates in mental health and health services weekly staff
meetings and participates with routine chart reviews with other
nurse practitioners as a condition of their articulated plans.
- Assists other providers and staff with other duties as
- Extensive clinical knowledge of psychiatric mental health and
the ability to provide mental health care services, including
medication management and counseling, to a variety of behavioral
health patients at the UCCS Wellness Center.
- Completes histories, psychiatric examinations and assessments,
orders diagnostic medical and psychological testing on all patients
with appropriate documentation reflected in the medical
- Able to differentiate and respond to mental health care
situations that require acute referral for hospitalization, and
- Triages walk-in urgent mental health care situations and
coordinates with emergency medical responders for safe transport to
appropriate mental health facilities if deemed necessary.
- Provides appropriate medication management and consults with
other clinic providers when appropriate.
- Refers patients requiring behavioral health care that is beyond
the scope of the Nurse Practitioner's practice to other appropriate

agents and aspects of psychiatric care to Wellness Center health
and mental health care providers and trainees.

Salary: Generally starting between $37,199 - $46,498

- Master's degree in Nursing with specialty certification as a
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner by a national
- Current unencumbered Colorado RN licensure and placement on the
Advanced Practice Nurse Registry
- Full prescriptive authority in the state of CO as a Psychiatric
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA license
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate
bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills,
