Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in the Colorado Springs, CO. Position Overview: The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities. This position is for a mid-level Software Engineer in the C2BMC Global program. The candidate will primarily be responsible for software development using Java. Essential Functions:
    • Interact with other people using good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Work independently or with a small group.
    • Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.
    • Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Java.
    • Resolve complex problems, design, develop, test, integrate, and support users for a large code baseline.
    • Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.
    • Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.
    • Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve efficiency.
    • Design, code, test, and implement automation tools. -Basic Qualifications: Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume if applicable.
      • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and -2 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
      • Familiarity with Java Spring.
      • Experience with software programing in Java
      • Ability and willingness to travel locally up-to 10% to support business needs.
      • Applicants must have an active Secret clearance which is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.Preferred Qualifications:
        • Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
        • Possessing a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is highly desired.
        • Strong problem-solving skills are desired, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.
        • Command and control system application development is desired.
        • Previous experience with message translation software is desired.
        • Automated test and pipeline development experience is desired.
        • Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms is desired.
        • Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, team environment. Knowledge of software practices and coding standards.
        • Experience working as part of an Agile team.
        • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.
        • Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
        • Experience developing enterprise applications.
        • Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
        • Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
        • Use common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle, and Eclipse.
        • Understanding standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams.
        • Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts, is desired.
        • Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation is desired.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
