Come join the team that is creating cutting edge signal processing, geolocation, and communication systems for the future What are the primary responsibilities in the Sr. Embedded Software Engineer position? Responsible for research, design, and development of integrated hardware/software systems, potentially including embedded software, FPGA firmware, circuit cards, and fully integrated systems. Participates in all phases of the product development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test. Applies engineering, software, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application. Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system. Develops test procedures, embedded software/firmware, and related documentation. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results. What required background will make you successful? BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field 10 years of experience with some combination of C, C++, Assembly, VHDL and Verilog Expert level experience with microprocessor, microcontroller, SoC, and/or FPGA system design Expert level knowledge of hardware and software design principles including industry best practices and design trends Ability to communicate hardware and software design, complexity analysis, and performance metrics in written and oral reports Ability to quickly grasp and come up-to-speed with complex code bases/designs Expert level experience with embedded Linux Expert level experience with additional high-level languages (Python, Shell Scripting, etc.) Experience with Git or other revision control systems Effectively delegates and specifies technical scope to junior personnel Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers Ability to lead teams of 2-3 multidisciplinary engineers/scientists Demonstrated experience in participating as a technical contributor to business capture Ability to serve as technical advisor to Program Managers regarding work estimation, staff assignments, and program execution Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED Preferred skills: Demonstrated success working with geographically distributed teams Technical lead of teams of 5 multidisciplinary engineers/scientists Significant experience with DSP or communication theory Significant experience with math intensive software development (DSP, numerical methods, AI/ML, graphics) Significant experience with PCB layout and schematic capture Where is the position located? This position can be at any of our locations in Centennial, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; or Chantilly, VA.
