Director of Catering Sales

Job Description:

Plan and manage the sales effort of the Catering Department of the hotel to achieve customer satisfaction and quality service while meeting/exceeding revenue/profit goals. Utilize prospecting skills and strong business sense to consistently exceed catering revenue goals. Recruit, deploy, motivate, support, and grow a team of Catering Sales and Convention Service Managers. Report and critique all Catering activities to the Cluster Director of Sales & Marketing. Enliven the Westmont Standards within the Department and the hotel. Support all Corporate and hotel initiatives as needed.

Business Results


  • Oversees daily operations of catering sales efforts.
  • Provides leadership to maximize revenue; sets personal booking goals.
  • Creates an effective selling environment and oversees hiring, training, coaching, and mentoring of sales staff.
  • Participates in developing and managing budgets and forecasts.
  • Sets and monitors booking goals for the team and holds staff accountable.
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders and implements strategies to meet financial goals.
  • Assists in market analysis and strategy implementation to achieve catering goals.
  • Prepares and presents reports for property reviews and reforecasts.
  • Evaluates new business opportunities and promotions to maximize revenue.
  • Completes regular sales activity critiques and market updates.

    • Ensures high customer satisfaction and builds long-term relationships.
    • Coordinates communication with customers and follows up post-event.
    • Displays leadership in guest hospitality and handles complaints effectively.
    • Reviews guest service results and implements improvements.

      • Addresses conflicts, contributes to team results, and manages change effectively.
      • Fosters positive work relationships, conducts regular meetings, and recognizes team successes.

        • Ensures accountability and resources for work management.
        • Meets/exceeds personal revenue goals.
        • Develops talent through hiring, training, and succession planning.
        • Maintains employee recognition and addresses employee concerns.

          • Supports PR initiatives and updates SOPs as needed.
          • Understands revenue management and account profitability.

            Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
            Experience

            • Minimum 5+ years of progressive sales experience.
            • Proven track record of exceeding sales goals.
            • Previous sales leadership experience preferred.

              Skills and Knowledge

              • Negotiation, creative selling, prospecting, and research skills.
              • Knowledge of menu planning, event operations, and facility management.
              • Strong customer relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.
              • Financial acumen, including P&L management and forecasting.
              • Proficiency in standard software and hotel systems.
              • Effective decision-making and influence skills.

                Physical Demands
                Frequent walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, smiling. Lifting, pushing, and pulling objects up to 10 pounds.
