Job Description:
Department Information
The Colorado Department of Corrections is committed to the safety
of our employees. The CDOC has been working with state and local
partners to proactively prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the
state prison system.
This position may be eligible for a $3250 hiring incentive.
Individuals selected for positions in Buena Vista, Canon City,
Limon and Sterling will receive an additional $2500 for a total of
$5750.
New Hire Incentive guidelines are as follows:
1. New hire must successfully complete the probationary period,
staying one year
2. If new hire leaves the department prior to one year, incentive
shall be paid back/collected at the time of final payout
3. Not applicable to employee promotions
4. Paid out at three months and six months of service
Note: CDOC staff members who left the department after 9/21/2022,
will not be eligible for the new hire incentive if they choose to
return.

Description of Job
Current vacancies: Rifle; however we are accepting applications for
all locations. The eligibility list created from this posting will
be used to fill current and future vacancies through out the state
(Crowley, Buena Vista, Canon City, Delta, Denver, Limon, Pueblo,
Rifle, Sterling and Trinidad).
This position provides skilled nursing care for the incarcerated
inmate in either an outpatient clinic, infirmary, or specialized
cell house setting for acute care, chronic support and emergency
interventions. Nurse I's are responsible for, but not limited to,
the following:

License: Applicant must possess a current, valid license as a
Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state
participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Required Competencies:

process. Colorado Revised Statutes require that state employees are
hired and promoted through a comparative analysis which may
include, but is not limited to, a suitability screening, eSkills
Assessment, oral assessment, written performance assessment or it
may include a review of your application material and your
responses to any supplemental questions by a Subject Matter Expert
(SME) to assess and rank applicants in order to establish an
eligible list for referral to the hiring manager for final
consideration.

Should applicant's background reveal criminal charges, it shall be

The CDOC is committed to a work environment free from illegal drugs
and alcohol. Employees (see exception below) may use marijuana in
their personal time but are prohibited from working while under the
influence of any substance, including marijuana. A drug test will
be administered to all new employees; employees must successfully
pass. Random drug screening will occur throughout employment.
Exception: Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified
employees are prohibited from the use of marijuana. Health care
professionals must check their licensing requirements regarding
marijuana use.
