The Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences is seeking to fill a full-time, University Staff (unclassified) - Medical Receptionist position. The Medical Receptionist will serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and the community; meet patient and patient family needs; take responsibility for a patient's safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes; and use appropriate interpersonal techniques to resolve difficult patient situations and regain patient confidence. The Medical Receptionist will create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor, and staff while performing registration tasks. This includes obtaining the demographic and financial information required to complete the patient registration process. Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of clerical duties. Pre-register patients for scheduled services. Determines the correct account type for registration according to service. The goal is to assist and maintain an effective working relationship and good customer service with all Lane Center Clinics. The job scope requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The Medical Receptionist must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action. This person is a resource for staff, clinic providers, and the community. They work with a multidisciplinary team of nurse practitioners, licensed professional counselors, and registered dietitians.



This position is responsible for front office clinical activities that include scheduling patient appointments, answering the telephone, providing responsive customer service, collecting co-payments, following billing and collection procedures, and maintaining/verifying patient demographic information in the EHR (Electronic Health Record), including current active insurance and collecting and entering office visit transactions.

Job Duties:



* Answers phone and schedules appointments after triaging the needs of patients for Beth-El clinics (PCC, PNC).

* Assists patient registration, answering patient calls, and other duties as assigned.

* Registers patients upon check-in using the electronic record system (EHR system).

* Coordinates with the clinic staff to meet patient records release requests, following the clinic's established processes and HIPAA guidelines.

* Collects co-pays or co-insurances per financial policy. Communicates payment options.

* Performs daily review of clinic schedules and miscellaneous clerical duties to ensure proper patient flow in the clinic.

* Works with the clinical team to triage walk-in requests for appointments.

* Provides self-pay appointment charge sheets for the clinic and enters them into EHR.

* Collects and distributes all Lane Center mail operations.

* Process emails for both clinics (PCC, PNC).

* Represents the clinic in assisting clients with billing-related matters, assisting clients and/or staff in resolving insurance-related problems.

* Works with support staff, providers, and the clinic manager to implement clinical processes to maintain efficient workflow.

* Enters data from client intake paperwork, surveys, and scans documents into the EHR.

* Ensures that all policies and procedures are updated and retained in the shared UCCS database

* Performs all front desk data entry functions in the EHR.

* Maintains accurate records of clinic office supply inventory, updating and ordering when needed.

* Preps future appointments by notating all required copays, paperwork, and account balances to address with patients upon check-in.

Work Location: On-site



Remote work will be available for emergency events. This will be offered based on the emergency and allowance will come from leadership and the guidelines provided at the time of the emergency.



This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).



What We Offer:



Salary Range: Generally starting at $35,448-$42,936 per year



The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.



Tentative Search Timeline:

Minimum Qualifications:



* High School diploma or GED

* Two years of general clerical experience

* One year of experience working as a medical front desk receptionist or as a medical administrative assistant

* One year of computer experience with Microsoft Office

* One year of experience in customer service

* One year of experience with basic financial transactions

* One year of EMR experience



Preferred Qualifications:



* Experience with medical billing/coding

* Experience with e-Clinical Works (EHR)



Physical Requirements:



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
