Responsibilities
- The scope of privileges in Diagnostic Radiology include the
diagnosis and treatment of diseases in patients of all ages through
the performance and interpretation of a broad range of diagnostic
imaging examinations. Diagnostic imaging modalities include, but
not limited to, radiography, bone densitometry, computed
tomography, diagnostic nuclear radiology, magnetic resonance
imaging, positron emission tomography, mammography, fluoroscopy,
and ultrasound.Qualifications
- Education: Successfully completed a doctor of medicine or a
doctor of osteopathy degree from an approved medicine or
osteopathy. Foreign Medical Graduates must possess an Educational
Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate.
- Post-Graduate Training: Successfully completed a Radiology
residency accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate
Medical Education.
- Specialty Board Certification: Maintains a current American
Board of Radiology specialty board certification or American
Osteopathic Board of Radiology specialty board certification. Those
diplomates who are enrolled in the Maintenance of Certification
(MOC) will successfully complete requirements to maintain
certification.
- Licensure: Must possess and maintain an active, current, valid
and unrestricted license from a US jurisdiction (fifty States, the
District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the
U.S. Virgin Islands) to practice independently within the defined
scope of practice for their specialty. Non-personal services
contract personnel must be licensed in the jurisdiction in which
the MTF is located.
- Experience/Clinical Competency: Must have a minimum of 24
months in the last 36 months of documented current clinical
independent experience and competency. Must have the level of
experience and documented current clinical competency to be awarded
"Regular" privileges to work independently. Experience working in a
Government setting such a DOD or Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) MTF is preferable. Recent completion of an accredited
Radiology residency program may be used to satisfy part or all of
this requirement.
- Health Status: Must be able to safely execute the
responsibilities of their specialty in providing health care. Has
no medical or mental condition that prevents or that significantly
reduces an individual's ability to safely execute their approved
scope of practice in providing health care. This includes alcohol
or drug abuse, or mental health disorder not responsive to
treatment.
- Life Support Certifications: Must possess and maintain current
Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS). If applicable,
maintains current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. These
Certifications must be current at all times, at no additional
expense to the government.
- Professional Behavior/Conduct: Must not have any reported
allegations of misconduct to external regulatory agencies where
there is reasonable cause (such as an arrest) that could have a
serious impact on patient/staff welfare or safety.
- Physician shall possess a current Drug Enforcement
Administration registration number.
- Must be capable of performing the full range of radiology
services. Other
- All Market contractors are subject to working at a duty
location at any of the MTFs or associated sub clinics within the
CMHS.
- All Market contractors must meet minimum MGMA performance
standard, if applicable.
- This position is mission essential as related to weather (or
other) closures.
- Must be able to read, understand, speak, write English
fluently, and be a US citizen.
- Leave: The contractor will determine the amount of unpaid leave
they will take each year, with a maximum of 20 workdays per year
allowed (at no expense to the government), taking into
consideration the performance requirements of the contract. All
requests for leave will be coordinated through and approved by
