The School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado
Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications to establish and
maintain an ongoing pool of lecturer applications from which future
appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions for the
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW)
programs will be made.
UCCS's Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work programs
launched in Fall 2020. Both programs are in pre-candidacy with
candidacy anticipated in February 2021 and full accreditation
anticipated by 2023. More information about UCCS Social Work is

This is a part-time lecturer position and appointments are made on
a semester-by-semester basis. The person in this position will
primarily teach undergraduate-level courses in Social Work, with
the possibility of occasional course assignments at the graduate
level as needed. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach
required courses within the Social Work major including but not
limited to: Introduction to Social Work; Social Work Research;
Human Behavior and the Social Environment; Contemporary Issues in
Social and Public Policy; Social Work Practice with Individuals,
Families, and Groups; and/or Social Work Practice with
Organizations and Communities. Course offerings include day and
evening classes as well as the ability to teach in a variety of
formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online). This position
reports to the Chair of Social Work.
Duties include preparing syllabi, conceptualizing development,
teaching tasks in accordance with Council on Social Work Education
(CSWE) accreditation, and management of student course grades in
the learning management system.

School of Public Affairs (SPA):
Temporary Lecturer appointments are not eligible for group health
and life insurance benefits or vacation leave accrual. This

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently
required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks
may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long
periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up
to 10 pounds.
