OU.LOCATION Cobham Semiconductor and Space Solutions is seeking a QualityDirector to lead our Colorado Springs, CO quality organization. Thisrole reports to the Vice President and General Manager Semiconductorand Space Solutions business area and is a key member of theleadership team responsible for delivering sustained top and bottomline growth and improving profitability by executing the businessstrategy, developing strong customer relationships and drivingoperational excellence. The ideal candidate is someone who hasproven experience in successfully developing, implementing, andmaintaining an effective quality management system, establishing anddelivering against a long-range strategy for the quality department,and building and leading a team of highly talented quality assuranceand quality control individuals. The candidate must be ahighly motivated and driven self-starter willing to challenge statusquo and implement the necessary change to optimize businessperformance. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects ofquality for Semiconductor and Space Solutions. This positionwill work collaboratively with the product line directors,operations director, and engineering director to ensure customer andbusiness requirements are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and maintain AS9100 compliant quality managementsystem. Maintain effective quality management system processes,communicate results of quality management system performance andassures pursuit of customer satisfaction throughout the company.Plan and direct the activities related to the qualitydepartment, which includes selection, work allocation, training,development and problem resolution. Establish annualobjectives, monitor employees' performance against thoseobjectives, and provide real time, frequent feedback regardingtheir performance. Establish career development plans foreach employee that includes training and experientialopportunities. Ensure succession plans are in place foreach role. Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring toemployees to foster high team morale and achieve peakproductivity, performance and employee engagement.Effectively manage tasks, resources and risks to achieveschedule commitments while monitoring financial budgets to maketimely critical decisions needed to meet overall scope, budgetand objectives of the business and customer. Work collaboratively with Operations and EngineeringDirectorates to establish lean processes that providepredictable and repeatable results while achieving customerrequirements in all elements of operational performance. Define and specify the implementation of standards, methodsand procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating theprecision, accuracy and reliability of company products. Assuresmooth operation of the inspection unit, maintaining dailyrecords and reports. Identify the processes, methods and applylean principles to reduce the non-value added time during theinspection process.Develop strong customer relationships and act as the ---voice ofthe customer--- within the Semiconductor and Space Solutionsbusiness ensuring customer requirements are consistentlyunderstood and met. Represent the customer in a fair andunbiased manner, bringing customer concerns and perceptions toCobham senior management. Embrace and take a lead role in promoting the concepts ofcontinuous improvement throughout the organization byeffectively implementing principles of Lean Manufacturing,including Six Sigma and Kaizen in a low volume, high variation,production environment. Identify continuous improvementopportunities within the quality department and providerecommendations and develop business cases as required tosupport the investment in new technologies and infrastructurethat support quality and cost improvements and objectives of thefacility.Lead the sites in effective reduction of Non-Conformancesthrough the application of robust root cause problem solving andeffective corrective action throughout the organizationSupport Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain and otherinternal customers with Quality Key Performance Indicators(KPI's), data and analysis and execute immediate, proactiveaction to correct variances.Participate in the design reviews of new designs to ensurecustomer and quality requirements are met and to ensure designfor manufacturability, design for testability, and Six Sigma isachieved. Supports the operation of safe and healthy workplaces foremployees.Other duties as assignedRequired Skills and Competencies: Must have strong leadership skills. Emphasis on the ability of building andmaintain strategic working relationships. Must have an innate desire to learn and continually improve.Must be able to effectively flow down goals into measurabletasks to subordinate levels and manage performance.Must have demonstrated ability to anticipate needs of thebusiness based on current trends and information and developplans to react accordingly.Must have demonstrated ability to train and develop teammembers to increase cross-training and utilization in support ofbusiness objectives. Strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to build andmanage relationships. Ability to effectively communicate at alllevels within the customer community.Excellent communication skills (verbal, written); Proficientin MS Office software (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or quality fieldfrom accredited university or collegeMinimum of 7-10 years of leadership in a quality organization.Strong analytical, organizational and managerial skills;strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Advanced operations problem solving capability, with a proventrack record of solving complex manufacturing issues Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Ability to travel up to 25%In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must beeligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, whichrequires USA CitizenshipPreferred Qualifications: MBA / Master's degree strongly preferred.Black belt in Lean/Six Sigma is desired Space products and associated requirementsSecurity: All applicants must be a U.S Citizen or U.S Person as defined byITAR (a lawful permanent resident or someone who is a protectedindividual as defined by 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3)).
