Job Ad Template OU.LOCATIONSUMMARYThe Manager of Digital Design & Verification is responsiblefor the successful planning and execution of digital designprocesses and activities; including the integration of analog macrorepresentations and the simulation and verification of the finalintegrated circuit. The Digital Design & Verification Managerprovides leadership, direction, and day-to-day management forCobham's Digital Design engineering resources. This team isresponsible for front-end structural design, simulation,verification, synthesis, and place and route, and static timingclosure for all digital IP produced by Cobham.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDefine and deploy the strategic vision for the design ofdigital IP.Excellent leadership, organization, communications, anddecision-making skills, judgment, and technical knowledge areessential.Define the digital design and verification strategies, toolsets, and technical capabilities roadmap.Prioritize and balance investment in sustaining engineering,development, and strategic investment.Work with engineering resources to ensure cross-functionaldevelopment teams meet the product, business, and time-to-marketrequirements defined by the company.Accountable for decisions involving all aspects of the digitaldesign process, including day-to-day issues concerning designstatus and progress.Work with external third parties to assess partnerships andlicensing opportunities.Possess expert knowledge with respect to competitive digitaldesign and verification tools and processes.Support company resource loading, cost estimating, and projectplanning in support of achieving revenue and profitabilitygoals. Including establishing the budget for labor, capital, andmaintenance for the digital team.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIdentify and drive culture of continuous improvement for thedigital team.Maintain a thorough understanding of Product DevelopmentEngineering organizations' processes and procedures.Communicate with internal and external customers at all level(sales, marketing, senior management).Provides weekly progress reports of design andcharacterization activities to senior management.In coordination with digital design staff, define and documentmethodologies and best design practices.Participates in weekly meetings with a cross-functionalProduct Development Team (PDT) and/or ASIC customer to report ondesign progress.Review customer request for quotes / proposals - provideresource inputs in preparation of quotations / proposals byMarketing.Work with Marketing in order to define technology capabilitiesand services as part of future marketing and sales strategies.Occasionally performs other duties as assigned.Travel 10-20% of the time may be required, including travel toother Cobham sites. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position includes leadership responsibilities whichrequire technical training and mentorship for junior designengineers in the use of various EDA tools and in various digitaland/or mixed-signal design techniques, especially thosetechniques unique to the high reliability markets served byCobham.This role requires the ability to manage individualcontributors and functional managers.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSTen (10) years of semiconductor design experience inElectrical Engineering. Hands on experience with IC design preferred. Bachelor ofScience degree in Electrical Engineering from a four-yearcollege or university required, MSEE preferred.Excellent communications skills with the ability to maintain apositive and proactive approach to resolve conflict and/orbusiness issues.Must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changingpriorities and assignments; must possess the ability toprioritize tasks and team goals consistent with larger businessobjectives.Ability to lead progressive changes and act as a change agentfor engineering.Management experience or training preferred.BUDGETING AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for annual budget guidance for tools, capital, andstaffing.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, GOVERNMENT SECURITYCLEARANCEA Secret Government Security clearance may be required.Security:All applicants must be a U.S Citizen or U.S Person as defined byITAR (a lawful permanent resident or someone who is a protectedindividual as defined by 8 U.S.C.1324b(a)(3)).
