The Ground Systems Engineering manager reports to the Sr. Manager, Ground Systems Engineering within the Integrated Operations Directorate, Tactical Space Systems Division of Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS). The Systems Engineering group is responsible for the management, sustainment, administration, and maintenance of ground systems supporting customer missions for NGSS-delivered space and ground systems located at a customer site. The Ground Systems Engineering team has grown significantly into a geographically disperse unit that requires functional management presence at various locations.Duties/Responsibilities:Has functional responsibility for current and new staff, performance evaluations, and salary reviews.Has responsibility for managing within overhead budget constraints, and for supporting annual capital planning cycles.Ensures personnel are properly trained to perform their assigned dutiesEnsures the Ground Systems Engineering team executes agreed upon scope within cost & schedule constraints.Ensures proper processes are documented, trained, and followed.Interfaces with external customers to maximize customer satisfaction.Supports mission system administration planning and execution for delivered systems.Provides support to reviews & monthly reporting, action item track, task & resource managementSupports and enforces all Quality Assurance processes and proceduresIT security: Maintaining current IT security standards as well as strategizing means to adapt to changes in IT security requirements and strategies.Maintains close coordination with the Sr Manager, Ground Systems Engineering and the rest of the Integrated Operations team to ensure standardization and efficiencies are in process and are being executed.Basic Qualifications:BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 10 years of experience with real-time satellite operations, systems administration and mission planning with Bachelors; or MS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8 years of experienceExperience with mission operations centers and end-to-end ground system administrationExperience with management, sustainment, administration, and maintenance of Satellite Ground SystemsExperience interfacing with external customers on a technical and programmatic levelLeadership/Management experience and/or trainingExperience with scheduling the ground system admins for on-call duty and shift differential and extended work week assignments.Must be a US citizen with an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligiblePreferred QualificationsExperience as a Cost Account Manager, program manager, functional manager, or as the lead of a mission operations/ground systems admin leadExperience with the operation of a broad spectrum of space missions, including commercial GEO communications satellites, LEO / HEO science and exploration satellitesExperience with building, configuring, installing Linux / Windows OS/Servers, Networking products, information assurance compliance, and virtual environments.Experience in configuring, deploying, and maintain ground software systems.Existing TS/SCI security clearanceSalary Range: $134,400 USD - $201,600 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
