distribution, church planting, drug and alcohol rehabilitation
centers, and many charitable outreaches. Today, World Challenge
Inc. shares the message of the gospel through mission outreaches
and literature distribution. Sermons from David Wilkerson and his
son Gary are shared monthly through the Pulpit Series newsletter to
hundreds of thousands of people. The numerous mission outreaches of
World Challenge to the poor include orphanages, overseas widows'
funds, emergency/disaster relief, healthcare/clinics, community
development, and feeding centers. Gary Wilkerson became president
of World Challenge in 2010 and continues to move forward with the
same heart and vision as his father.About the Chief Financial
Officer:The Chief Financial Officer serves on the executive
leadership team to provide financial insight on strategic
development and supporting operational requirements. The role is
accountable for the financial operations and risk management of the
organization. This candidate develops the financial strategy and
operational metrics supporting the organizational strategy. The
role is responsible for the development and monitoring of control
systems designed to preserve organization assets, report accurate
financial results, and ensure compliance with non-profit
regulations.The Chief Financial Officer's Responsibilities Include:
Planning
- Assist executive leadership team in formulating strategic
direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business
plans.
- Develop financial strategies and metrics supporting
organizational objectives.
- Manage the capital request and annual budgeting processes.
- Analyze revenue streams to highlight growth opportunities and
evaluate expenses to ensure effective use of donor funds. Financial
Management
- Oversee development of timely and accurate financial statements
and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Manage annual financial audit preparation and liaise with
external auditors.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash
management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control,
and petty cash.
- Maintain banking relationships; reconcile bank and investment
accounts.
- Manage relationships with investment advisors ensuring
compliance with portfolio guidelines and sufficient cash flow to
support operations.
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure proper
recording, amortization, and disposition.
- Interface with the board of directors to share financial
results and support strategic discussions through financial
analyses.Operations Management
- Evaluate technology that meets financial data processing,
control, and reporting requirements.
- Advise on appropriate technology that meets the organization's
information requirements and financial resources.
- Manage relationships with outsourced third parties (i.e.,
donations processing, online store, investment advisors, attorneys,
etc.).
- Oversee the organization's transaction processing systems.
- Implement operational best practices.
- Advise/support Human Resources on employee benefit plans, with
particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package
and positioning WCI as a preferred employer.
- Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other
financial commitments. Risk Management
- Understand and mitigate key elements of an organization's risk
profile.
- Monitor legal issues involving the organization, and legal
issues affecting the industry.
- Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
- Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ensure that the organization complies with all non-profit legal
and regulatory requirements.Manage Finance Staff
- In consultation with the Chief Operations Officer, define role
requirements, recruit, interview, and select well-qualified
staff.
- Develop training plans to enhance staff skills, increase their
breadth of scope, and continuously grow the capability of the
departments.
- Regularly evaluate/collaborate with each staff member on
personal performance and development; ensure they are engaged in
organizational success and aware of how they contribute.What You
Bring: Education & Experience
- A University degree in accounting or business administration is
required.
- A minimum of 10 years of executive management experience is
required.
- Corporate experience for a major company or division of a large
corporation is preferred.
- An MBA in Finance and Certified Public Accountant designations
are preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting and compliance
requirements.
- Knowledge of human resource management and project management
is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to supervise and
motivate staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound computer skills including word processing, presentation
applications, and database management (experience with Microsoft
applications in a MAC environment a plus).
- Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM (RE) and Financial (FE) software is
