Job Description:

We are looking for a Drafter to work with our team of Architects and Engineers and convert designs into technical plans. Drafter responsibilities include gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material and equipment requirements and setting up production methods. If you have hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and are familiar with building processes, we'd like to meet you. Ultimately, you'll help us build functional, secure and well-designed products and structures that meet our needs.
Responsibilities

  • Liaise with architects and engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs
  • Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and requirements in materials
  • Describe production methods step-by-step (including equipment and software types to be used)
  • Create detailed designs with computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow
  • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team
  • Identify potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality
  • Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards
  • Create manuals that describe existing products' operation, features and maintenance
    Skills
    • Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role
    • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software
    • Familiarity with 3D modeling tools
    • Good math skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • BSc in Engineering, Architecture or degree from a technical college
    • Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus

        Full Job Description3 month contract to hire (90 day probation period)
        Essential Job Functions:
        • Detail simple to moderately complex rebar placing plans using construction documents and specifications for approval and field use
        • Incorporate elevations, sections, plans, bending details and with material lists for use and interpretation by customer, engineer or architect, fabrication shop and installer
        • Communicate as required with customers to ensure we have the most up to date drawings, addendums and RFI responses
        • Incorporate any addendums and RFI responses into our estimate prior to the sale of the project
        • Create bar lists and orders for misc. items (when required) in accordance with the project pour sequence and schedule. Prepare run-in orders to accommodate customer requests, revisions or errors
        • Manage project-detailing activities with customer operations personnel to insure on-time delivery to customer site locations in accordance with project delivery schedule and contract specifications
        • Detail and or make revisions to placing plans/bar lists at the request project customer, contractor, engineer, architect, department supervisor or installer. Follow thru to obtain needed information to resolve discrepancies in plan sections, dimensions, etc
        • Detail the updated approval drawings, investigate and incorporate customer/architect/engineer notations, and return to customer
        • Perform quality checks on drawings/bar lists to ensure accuracy and save on product waste. Along with the ability to recognize and document adds or deducts to a project compared to the original estimate
        • On occasion travel to customer job site to resolve or assist others in resolving placing problems, obtain information, and to investigate claims involving company detailing services or fabricated products
        • Ability to assist internal Supervisors within Estimating, Sales, Accounting and Engineering in contract reviews when requiredJob Requirements & Desired Experience:
          • 2+ years' experience on related work such as rebar detailing and estimating of reinforcing steel is preferred
          • Knowledge of ASA, -Rebar CAD, Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Bluebeam and Adobe is preferred
          • Knowledge of CSRI manual of standard practice and placing manual is preferred
          • 5+ years' experience on related work such as rebar detailing and estimating of reinforcing steel
          • Ability to read blue prints
          • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, contracts, and financial statements
          • Knowledge and passion for the Construction Industry is required
          • Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking skills, project management and/or project coordinator experience
          • Education preferred: 2 or 4 year technical degree in drafting or engineering field
          • 1-2 years drafting experience preferredPhysical Requirements for job:
            • Must be able to sit and stand up to 8 hours per day
            • Frequent use of computer, including monitor, keyboard and printer
            • Must be able to communicate verbally, utilizing telephone, email, and face-to-faceWork Environment:
              • Normal office environment
              • Maybe times will have to enter mill/rebar fab area and job sites, with exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold and other hazardsPosition Requirements:
                • Must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship
