PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Lead Client Account Manager serves as the operational and administrative contact at T. Rowe Price for a portfolio of TRP's largest, most complex, profitable, and/or at-risk Retirement Plan Services' (RPS) full-service, defined contribution institutional clients and is accountable for their clients' administrative and recordkeeping service experience. As the primary point of contact for clients and their advisors, the Lead Client Account Manager is responsible for building relationships with plan contacts, providing oversight and coordination of the daily operation of the plan, developing a strategy to aid in client retention and ensures client satisfaction and consulting with clients on operational best practices to achieve efficient and reliable plan operation. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Plan Administration - Oversees and manages the outsourcing of plan administration, meeting internal and external deadlines, to ensure operational excellence of the firm's largest, most complex, profitable, and/or at-risk plans. Maintains a schedule for plan activities; leads client meetings, conference calls, and discussions for client campaigns. Effectively prioritizes work with minimal oversight to ensure deadlines are met and client inquiries and needs are fulfilled. Analyzes escalated/sensitive plan and participant issues based on consultative client discussions and research. Using independent judgment and discretion, determines the appropriate course of action and/or whether escalation is required in order to maintain client satisfaction/retention and mitigate financial exposure/impact on both T. Rowe Price and clients. Manages and directs cross-functional teams regarding client problem resolution, enhancement of services, and upgrade of systems. Directs, guides, and manages retirement plan activities in accordance with ERISA and DOL policies and plan guidelines. Keeps all interested parties up-to-date at all times. Strategy and Consultation - Consults with and develops strategy for the largest, most complex, profitable, and/or at-risk RPS clients to maintain and enhance the overall relationship. Participates and/or guides consultative dialogue when attending client meetings in order to research and understand key client objectives, metrics, goals and course correction. Develops, presents, and implements strategies that offer mutual value for both client and TRP through operational reviews to improve plan administration and achieve client's goals. Works in partnership with the Relationship Management team, RPS Operations business partner and RPS Sales to build future client retention and brand strategies for the firm's largest, most complex, profitable, and/or at-risk plans. Manages positive client and business relationships through effective communication and collaborating means. Anticipates client service problems and incorporates alternatives while managing multiple demands and competing priorities. Solicits ideas and involves relevant others in formulating issue resolutions and communication approaches while overseeing matters to a successful result. Effectively influences and negotiates manners with business and customer relationships. Project Management - Takes a leadership role in assigned interdepartmental projects and drives for results. Ability to champion and drive change throughout the business by providing advanced expertise and monitoring the progress of projects/initiatives to ensure proper implementation and ongoing execution. Provides recommendations and Client Administration perspective to the project group to ensure the best outcomes for our clients. Represents the views of Client Administration and is authorized to make decisions on behalf of the business. Expertise and Oversight - Serves as a technical resource, and acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for other team members when resolving the most complex service issues presented by clients, Relationship Managers or other internal partners, and provides informal technical coaching to other team members. Participates in peer quality checking review as assigned. Sales - Actively contributes to growing the firm by partnering with RPS Sales to bring in new large, profitable, and/or complex clients. Participation includes but is not limited to attending sales finalist presentations and presenting the value of their role to the prospect. Travel may be required for Sales or Client visits and at times may be with limited notice. QUALIFICATIONS Required * Demonstrated client and project management skills * Advanced knowledge of T. Rowe Price products and services, the defined contribution business, and ERISA * Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with internal and external clients through effective interactions * Demonstrated ability to take ownership of client issues and provide consultative guidance to meet client needs * Puts client needs first and is responsive and timely * Demonstrates flexibility and understanding so service is seamless to clients * Advanced verbal and written communication skills * Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines * Works well under pressure * Displays strong problem solving and decision making skills * Displays excellent leadership qualities; leads by example * Demonstrated ability to motivate others and work effectively in a team environment * Drives for results pursuing business goals * Ability to travel on relatively short notice * College degree and 2 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 4 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience Preferred College degree with 6 or more years of relevant experience * Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential Minimum salary (USD) starts at: 69300 (Colorado only*) Salary range minimum is one component of our total compensation and benefits package. *Note: Disclosure as required by sb19-085 of the minimum salary compensation for this role when being hired into our offices in Colorado.
