Job Description Job Description Associate – Patent Prosecution (Electrical Engineering & Computer Science) Direct Counsel is representing an Amlaw 100 firm seeking a mid-level associate to join its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Patent Prosecution Practice Group. This position is open to any firm location, with strong preference for Atlanta, Denver, Houston, St. Louis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, or San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, along with a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, or physics. Candidates must also demonstrate strong academic achievement, prior law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and excellent writing and communication skills. Preferred experience includes: Patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies, including: Machine learning, artificial intelligence, or neural networks Radio frequency (RF) circuitry Hardware and/or communications security (e.g., encryption/decryption) Qualifications: J.D. required Active bar admission in the jurisdiction where the candidate intends to practice USPTO admission required Compensation: Salary range between $240,000-$365,000 with additional discretionary bonus potential.
