Allegion is looking for a passionate Lead Mechanical Engineer to
work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global
organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands
(including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security
and access management. You'll work on solutions that will enable
seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and
secure where they work, live and thrive.
What You Will Do :
Develop and sustain mechanical systems
Define and employ mechanical requirements and specifications to
meet customer needs.
Utilize engineering tools to ensure that risks are evaluated and
mitigated
Develop mechanical designs and support documentation
Prototype, test, and validate mechanical designs
Work with other engineering disciplines and project leads in a
hybrid work environment
What we're looking for :
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work
experience.
Sound mechanical engineering fundamentals, a diverse set of
experience, and strong analytic and problem-solving abilities.
Strong proficiency in the design, development, implementation, and
integration of mechanical systems.
Ability to quickly build proof-of-concept solutions that are
forward looking to how they could be implemented on a larger
scale.
Self-motivated mindset with strong engineering project management
skills.
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing to both
technical and non-technical team members.
What you'll need to succeed :
Act as the primary interface for the sustaining mechanical team on
assigned projects to a cross-functional project team including
other engineering functions, manufacturing, external suppliers,
program management, product, test lab, quality, customer support
etc.
Support, enhance, and refine mechanical designs for locking systems
to support commercial markets
Develop required design documentation, 3D models/drawings, and
instructions for manufacturing and product test requirements.
Experience with Pro-E/Creo or an equivalent design tool
Utilize engineering tools (FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, GD&T,
Tolerance Stack Analysis & DFMA) to ensure that requirement risks
are evaluated and mitigated early in the design process.
Conduct and participate in reviews to insure highest reliability
and best performance in the intended application
Ensure designs meet system requirements through proper verification
methods including design and security reviews for product
modifications
Work with validation lab in supporting mechanical engineering
validation testing
Lead mechanical and/or product lifecycle related process
development, tool adoption, and improvement projects
Mentor and share knowledge with junior team members
Provide day-to-day direction and technical oversight for other
project members
