Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking an entrepreneurial, self-starting, and energetic water resources engineer to join our team. This mid-level civil engineer will have 4-10 years of relevant experience. We're a mid-size firm with offices in Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa. We have positions open in our Greenwood Village and Colorado Springs, CO Offices to join the Mountain West Water Resources Group. In this job, the Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex water resources projects ranging from hydrology and hydraulics support for transportation projects to standalone projects, such as stream restoration, floodplain analysis, and major outfall systems.
Immediate responsibilities will be to act as task lead on major transportation projects. The selected applicant will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the drainage design, stormwater management plans for control measures during construction and post construction permanent water quality facilities. This will require coordination with other design disciplines, coordination with the client, and critical decision making to meet overall project goals.

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for various sized transportation projects, including major structure sizing and floodplain analysis.
  • Stormwater management plans, including the design of control measures for stormwater during construction, post construction permanent stormwater quality facilities design, green infrastructure design, and compliance and permitting documentation.
  • Assist with design of various channel improvements from bank stabilization for erosion protection to full stream analysis and restoration.
  • Use computer assisted engineering design software to prepare engineering and design documents as needed. This includes the preparation of plans, profiles, details, quantity tabulations, construction costs, reports and specifications.
  • Support construction projects by reviewing submittals, answering RFI's, and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with the contract drawings and specifications.
  • Assist in business development and preparing schedule, scope, and fee for proposals.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for projects. This role can vary from water resources Task Lead to Project Manager depending on the size of the project.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in water resources.
    • 4-10 years of well-rounded water resources experience.
    • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/Open Roads Designer required.
    • Experience with H&H modeling software like CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SMS and SRH-2D, CulvertMaster, HY8, FlowMaster, StormCAD/SewerGEMS, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, EPA SWMM, etc.
    • Project Management, marketing, and business development experience preferred
    • Local experience with DOTs, Counties, and Cities is a plus.
    • Stream restoration, pond, and watershed planning knowledge and experience is desirable.
      PE License is required.
      SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $110,000
