Technical Engineering Leader and Deputy Program Manager Bachelor's of Science or Technology degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position GPS Source , Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GDMS, is a world class innovator and manufacturer of high quality, high performance position, navigation and timing (PNT) technologies for demanding defense and commercial markets. Our tight knit product development team needs a Technical Engineering Leader and Deputy Program Manager for Engineering (DPME), who is an expert in project management, product development, managing engineers and--agile engineering practices--to help design, deliver and support first-to-market PNT solutions. This position will be located in our new facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado (near I-25 and Circle Drive). As a technical program leader, you will play a key role in delivering world-class secure, resilient PNT products and solutions. Our product development team consist of hardware, software, and systems engineering teams, each focusing on a specific set of components and services, in the areas of communication, device integration, and assured PNT services. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering the maturation of agile practices and a collaborative culture across all engineering teams.     • Custom hardware and software PNT products for both military and commercial customers
    • System V&V, data analysis, discrepancy reporting and corrective actions to ensure production readiness
    • Hands-on experience with systems integration and fielding of Army ground vehicle PNT systems
    • Able to identify and resolve technical issues across functional teams
    • Able to meet program timelines, while also ensuring compliance with quality processes
    • Able to quickly synthesize and clearly report relevant information (data and metrics)
    • Continually finding ways to innovate and improve practices
    • As DPME, you will be responsible for the day-to-day direction and leadership for the technical team and the next-tier of technical leads in setting the technical baseline and approach on your program. This includes the creation of the program plan (programmatic and technical), including the schedule, budget and resources. What you bring to the table:
      • Proven experience in all phases of product development, engineering, manufacturing, and sustainment
      • Plans, authorizes, and monitors the engineering work (including providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned)
      • Staffs the project team (along with Director of Engineering) with the appropriate engineering personnel
      • Fosters cross-functional collaboration and builds project consensus
      • Oversees performance, cost, scope and schedule for all engineering efforts (including efforts that are subcontracted)
      • Ensures all project deliverables are developed with high quality and delivered on time
      • Develops and maintains engineering plans as required by the project
      • Manages the engineering related risks and opportunities of the project
      • Develops and manages the project change management process
      • Ensures that all engineering processes to be used adhere to established engineering practices
      • Manages engineering resources, organizational interfaces, and engineering scope
      • Identifies, develops, analyzes, and reports engineering project measures
      • Conducts monthly engineering status reviews and provides material for the monthly program reviews
      • Implements effective corrective actions as required
      • Manages the resolution of technical issues, communicates the resolution to all affected parties, and ensures that resolutions are carried out in all of the affected artifacts.
      • Ensures that total product/system requirements are met
      • Ensures that total product/system is integrated, tested, verified, and delivered to customers on-time
      • Conducts lessons learned after each major phase of the project
      • Leads medium to large proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcomings
