has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr. Principal Software
Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This
position will be located at the Schriever SFP in Colorado Springs,
CO.Position Overview:The selected Sr. Principal Software Engineer
will support the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract
(SWCD). The Warfighter Simulation and Services (WSS) team offers
opportunities to support the U. S. Missile Defense System through
the development of Modeling and Simulation applications used in
warfighter training and exercises, concept evaluation,
developmental engineering, testing, and verification and
assessment. The Sr. Principal Software Engineer will support the
Tactical Emulation for Software-in-the-Loop Assessment (TESLA)
product line of the WSS team.Essential Functions:
- Designing, developing, testing, integrating, and documenting
features for the TESLA project using C++ and targeting deployment
on Linux operating systems.
- Support simulation of missile defense systems using native
tactical code in a specialized virtual environment.
- lead a small development team in expanding the TESLA software
architecture to support the needs of the Modeling and Simulation
community in running tactical code within federated simulation
- I nterfacing with TESLA customers and preparing technical
briefings to TESLA stakeholders. Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering
or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university
and 9 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM
discipline and 7 years of related experience, or a PhD and 4 years
related experience, or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of
- Proficient in software development using C++ (C++14 or greater)
and a strong understanding of Linux platforms.
- Experience with KVM virtualization and system emulators such as
- Basic understanding of computer architectures, and experience
using the Linux Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) subsystem for
virtualization, and knowledge of IP networking protocols.
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S.
Government security clearance at the DoD Secret level; and a
minimum of an interim Secret clearance will be required to start.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software
Engineering or related field.
- Experience in agile software development methodologies
including Scrum and Kanban.
- Experience with the Google Test unit testing framework.
- Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence,
- Ability to plan and lead a development effort.
- Knowledge/experience in any of the following: Federated
Simulation Frameworks such as OSF, missile defense domain
knowledge, infrared space surveillance, and modeling and simulation
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication
- Ability to independently determine and develop approaches to
solutions and meet objectives.
- A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret or
Top-Secret security clearance. Salary Range: $114,300 USD -
$171,500 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in
addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward
individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in
company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions
may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop
