The JTAGS-P3I team is developing and deploying mission ground processing systems worldwide. These systems receive, process, and disseminate Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensor data in support of the theater missile-warning mission.NGDS has an opening for a Principal Engineer Network to join our JTAGS-P3I team. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.Responsibility for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the OPIR Network Infrastructure: switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations.Interfacing with service providers to troubleshoot any network related issues.Working with system administrators and cybersecurity engineers to ensure that network infrastructure is in compliance with all regulations, guidance, and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).Maintaining ICDs as deliverables to the customerWork with system administrator(s) to troubleshoot and repair any internal operational issuesBasic Qualificationss for a Principal Engineer Network are:High School diploma (or GED), plus 9 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree and 7 years relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree and 5 years' experience.Must have a current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification or be able to obtain it within 90 days of hireIn-depth understanding of network technologies and associated services, management, and security practices/techniquesFamiliarity and ability to read, understand, and implement configurations of:FirewallsRoutersACS RADIUS, TACACS, RSA two-factor authenticationLAN Core and Distribution switches, experience with ACL's, routing, hardeningFamiliarity with network topologies and an understanding of configuration detailsFamiliarity with TCP, and secure protocolsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writingCapable of working both independently and in a team environmentMust be a U.S. Citizen, in possession of a Secret ClearancePreferred QualificationsKnowledgeable of Missile Warning ground processing systems (e.g., JTAGS, SBIRS, etc.)Knowledgeable of OPIR mission processing concepts and architecturesExperience using an analytical coding environment (MATLAB, Python, etc.) to modify and use analysis toolsKnowledgeable/experience/administration of UNIX/Linux environments to augment system administrator(s)Knowledgeable in scripting to automate tasksKnowledgeable/experience with STIGsNetwork Certifications such as CCNA, CCNPPrincipal Network Engineer salary rangeSalary minimum: 83600Salary maximum:125400Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
