Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector organization is seeking applicants for a position on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer. This position will serve as a Lead Systems Engineer on the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS) Systems Engineering team. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will support modernization of the PARCS radar controller. This will include leading system IV&V activities consistent with international systems engineering standards and best practices, such as IEEE 1012. What You'll Get to Do: Lead Integration Activities, such as: Defining an integration plan that sequences the order for assembling the implemented system elements (e.g., HWCIs, CSCIs) Defining the fault isolation and diagnosis strategy to support system integration Identifying necessary enabling systems to support integration (e.g., hardware fixtures/tools, software integration environment) Performing system integration and documenting results Analyzing integration results to understand system element interaction Lead Verification Activities, such as: Identifying verification scope and constraints Selecting verification methods or techniques and associated criteria Identifying necessary enabling systems to support verification (e.g., hardware or software test beds) Defining verification plans including verification technique and success criteria Obtaining stakeholder agreement that system meets specified requirements Maintaining bi-directional traceability of verified system elements Lead Validation Activities, such as: Defining validation criteria for stakeholder requirements Defining the validation strategy including identification of necessary enabling systems needed to support validation (e.g., interfacing operational equipment) Defining validation plans to be executed in the operational environment Reviewing validation results to confirm that services of the system that are required by stakeholders are provided Lead Transition Activities, such as: Preparing for Transition (i.e., identifying facility changes, system constraints, enabling systems, and shipping/receiving of system elements to support transition) Performing Transition (i.e., preparing for installation, delivering and demonstrating proper system installation, overseeing operator training, performing system check-out) Lead the development of IV&V artifacts, such as verification plans consistent with DOD Data Item Description guidance Provide IV&V activities in support of: Requirements Engineering (i.e., requirements definition and analysis) Architectural Design (i.e., architecture definition, analysis, and evaluation) Design Definition (i.e., design specification, design alternative assessment) Test Engineering (i.e., test planning and execution) Support the systems engineering team in implementing model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to capture radar controller behavior, structure, and interfaces Support the development of radar controller architectural views using the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) Prepare and present technical briefings to senior leadership and Air Force customer stakeholders MSCOMSTR Basic Qualifications: Education/Experience: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. within a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)discipline from an accredited college. Active Secret security clearance Experience performing verification activities Preparing for and presenting at milestone briefings (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) Leading SE activities on a team, combining appropriate competencies Preferred Qualifications: Developing, reviewing, and evaluating the suitability of verification and validation plans Collating, reviewing, and evaluating evidence generated during V&V to support system qualification, certification, and acceptance Maintaining traceability of V&V plans/procedures to system requirements and user needs Developing integration plans including identification of method and timing for each activity Diagnosing complex faults found during integration and following up with corrective actions Identifying and arbitrating consequences of changes to interfaces on system elements Developing transition plans and performing system transition to operation Developing and maintaining IV&V documents throughout the lifecycle Supporting validation of stakeholder needs, expectations, and constraints Supporting verification that architectural design meets specified system requirements Supporting verification that detailed design meets selected architecture Supporting test procedure execution, deficiency identification, and problem resolution Overseeing updates to technical support data (e.g., procedures, guidelines, checklists, training and maintenance materials) to ensure they are current Reverse engineering and defining structure, interfaces, behavior, and requirements from legacy documentation Analyzing phased array radar system performance related to beam steering calculation & real-time digital control Specifying requirements for, architecting, or verifying radar subsystem assemblies Modeling radar system functions (transmit, receive, waveform generation, beam steering, signal processing, etc.) Defining plans, processes, and appropriate tools to control and monitor system IV&V activities Demonstrated full understanding of IV&V techniques and their appropriateness, given the levels of complexity of the system of interest Leading assessment of system failures and the preparation of design change to rectify such failures Familiar with the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS) or Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP). Experience with the Systems Modeling Language (SysML) Experience with commercially available architecting tools such as PTC Integrity Modeler, Cameo EA/MagicDraw, etc. Coordinating SE planning and execution across a complex system Mentoring new and experienced practitioners in system IV&V Preparing plans for managing SE activities as part of a wider project plan Assisting with the measurement, assessment and reporting of SE tasks against plans Assisting with the identification, assessment, and analysis of risks and deployment of mitigation activities Assisting with selection of decision criteria and trade studies Supporting coordination of concurrent engineering activities Familiar with key stages in the acquisition of a system, product or service Assisting with generation and maintenance of a data dictionary and technical data library Generating documentation in support of configuration change control activities Collaborating with project management in support of project monitoring and control Understands the need to estimate, budget, and control costs associated with project execution Assisting with logistics activities such as development of maintenance concepts, sparing analysis, identification and acquisition of support equipment Assisting with identifying and measuring quality characteristics What We Can Offer You: Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company.
