Overview:
The Accountant I shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: - To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. - This position will support the Financial Services Team in the areas of general accounting functions including journal entries, accounting processes, reconciliations, and analysis.

Responsibilities:
General Accounting Functions - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 50%Prepares proper and accurate financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles Monitors, analyzes, and reconciles various general ledger accounts, and financial data upon request, at least on a monthly basisAssists field administrators and other personnel with accounting questions and ticketsProvides support to the Financial Services Team in the areas of accounting, reporting, budgeting, etc. -Specific Accounting Functions - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 40%Prepares and provides financial analysis on trends, projections, and ongoing services Provides support in budget preparation and variance analysisParticipates as needed in month end closing by creating journal entries in areas of responsibility Income Accounting responsibilitiesRecord in-house payments in software systems: EFTs, Credit Cards, Wire Transfers, Cash, and ChecksCount and deposit cash and checksCreate adjustments and refunds on as neededAudit data between software systems and Workday FinancialsAssists with year-end processingAccruals, prepaids, other adjusting entriePreparation of workpapers for external auditForms 990 and 990-TShared responsibility for the following functions as assigned:Maintains fixed asset accounting records including purchases, disposals and depreciationPrepares and files sales tax returnsReconciles bank statements monthlyMonitors unclaimed property processes and compliance -Creates and distributes Forms 1099-MISCPrepares royalty payments - Performs cost accounting and pricing analysisAssists in group billing and collection of outstanding accountsAdditional Responsibilities - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -10%Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededAssists in testing, maintaining, and monitoring accounting and financial systems, and data integrity on a regular basisMaintains documentation of job duties performed Assists with additional job-related work as assigned by the direct supervisor or Financial Services Team LeadershipHandles sensitive information with high level of confidentiality and discretionParticipates in development events such as Navigator on-site events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriateReads spiritually and culturally developmental books and literatureParticipates in the annual, organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR) processSubmits expense report as needed due the 15th of each monthSubmits time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system

Qualifications:
Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The NavigatorsHunger to serve and grow personally, professionally, and spirituallyBachelor's Degree in Accounting or FinancePreferred two years' experience in accountingProficient in Microsoft Applications including Excel and WordAbility to organize detailed data while managing multiple tasksStrong work ethic and excellent people skills that provide the ability to collaborate and communicate within a team and cross functionally with other teamsSense of humility that results in recognizing team efforts before taking personal credit and a willingness to take ownership of faults and admit mistakes.
