Systems division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a
Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer. We are excited for

position is located in Boulder, CO - Boulder is nestled in the
foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown
Denver. Position Overview: As a Software Engineer / Principal
Software Engineer on the HBTSS team within Advanced Programs, you
will be responsible for the design, development, documentation,
testing, deployment, and debugging of software applications. This
includes researching, identifying, and implementing solutions to
complex, multi-disciplinary software problems. Essential Functions:
- New feature implementation that allows for smooth integration
with pre-existing systems
- Utilizing Jira to document bugs and enhancements
- Software engineering support for multi-language (C/C++, Python,
and Java) and complex software systems
- Enhance usability, performance, and maintainability of systems
via analysis and bug fixes
- Coordinate, integrate, and resolve defects in conjunction with
the test team Seeking candidates who find satisfaction in working
on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings
across all levels.This requisition may be filled at a higher grade
based on qualifications listed below.Basic Qualifications:This
requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer or a
Principal Software Engineer level. Basic Qualifications for
Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer:
- Software Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from
an accredited university and -2 years of related experience or a
Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or
6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline
preferred from an accredited university and -5 years of related
experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years
experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience, or 9 years of
related experience in lieu of a degree.
- C++, Python, and/or Java programing proficiency
- Object Oriented Programing (OOP) experience
- Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business
needs
- Applicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government DoD
Secret security clearance is required to start; with the ability to
obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- OO design pattern and modern data structure experience
- Software test experience
- OPIR (Overhead Persistent InfraRed) sensor related
experience
- Configuration management software experience (i.e. Git,
etc.)
- Software development and troubleshooting in a team
environment
- Legacy software and modernization effort experience
- Java and shell scripting language experience
- Technical leadership experience
- Full software development lifecycle experience including new
development and reverse engineering.
- Sustainment of ground systems
- Experience with NRL Products (Neptune, VMOC, Ocean, etc.---)
Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800 Salary Range 2: $107,300 -
$160,900 The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when
determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to
base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual
contributions as well as allow employees to share in company
results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be
eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman
provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage,
life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays
and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business. The
